Dinosaurs

How many things I have discovered on a single web page! (click the title of this post):
  1. I am not the only dinosaur on this planet.
  2. We should not consider ourselves as dinosaurs.
  3. I have something in common with Linus Torvalds.
  4. Programmers don't feel offended when they are told they are full of bullshit.
(On the contrary, musicians feel offended whatever you tell them; this is an older discovery, however).

Giuseppe,

After reading Linus comments, all I have to say is that he is a bad-mannered guy and hasn't expressed a single actual reason on why C is better to C++. He definitely hates C++ but his comments are just bullshit.
After programming many years in plain C (without any kind of third party libraries, not even MFC, STL, etc), I have found that C++ gives me much more flexibility and power. But that's just me, if one programmer is happier with C, that's absolutely fine, I just don't like it when people despises preferences of someone else.

You have to read the whole thread of discussion, not just the first 2 posts. Linus said "you are bullshi" to someone who had just stated that C is "BS".
Also note that the discussion was restricted to "which language is better for this particular task", not to which language is better in general. My opinion is that everybody must choose for himself and not interefere with somebody else's choice. I like C because I find it to be the most readable and portable of all languages. I dislike OOP because I am not a genius that can find the right design at the first attempt. With procedural programming you can write loose pieces and then design the program. With OOP you must think ahead and I can't.
